HOCO2K15

So sorry for not being active at all lately (they actually give me homework in high school....and it's not even optional!). I just wanted to say, Happy Homecoming Season! I know there are more dances and fun extravagances but I felt like I should mark this one down in the history because, wait for it,......my sister actually got asked! When I say asked, I mean really, truly, genuinely asked! It was the most adorable thing ever! Luckily, I took lots of "in-the-moment" photos.
However, don't take this the wrong way. It is   definitely   cool to go with a group rather than with a date. I mean, if your school is full of jerks or meanie-butts, then please just go with people you like. Not to imply that I am a high school dance expert, but I think the purpose is for you all to have fun. So, by all means, do what ever makes you happy. As long as it's legal.

Sincerely Yours,
Kay

Love Story GOALS

Oh my nibblets, this is so darn cute! I would put this in a room......if I was in a relationship.....and it was serious.....but when's that ever going to happen??? Haha, it's still cute, though.
Sincerely Yours,
Kay

Summer Favorites

I know summer is basically over for most of us, and the wretched horror story that is school has already ensued, but I refuse to acknowledge those facts. Summer is what you make of it, after all, so why can't it be as long as you make of it as well. I'm just saying. Anyways, if you're bored and truly have nothing to do, one thing I advise would be a photo shoot. And if you have virtually no friends (like me) and are always on your phone (like me), I advise a photo shoot involving items that mean something to you or items that just happen to be really artistic and look good in pictures. Coincidentally, most of the items I "hired" for my "photo shoot" actually relate to some aspect of my life.
The Departure Magazine, if I'm being completely honest, definitely does not look as good today as it does in my photographs. I have cut up the cover, torn the pages, added stickers, spilled caffeinated concoctions one the whole book, and much more. Pretty much anything that you wouldn't want to one person to do to an amazing fashion magazine, well that is exactly what I did; some actions more intentional than others. It's not that this specific magazine is significant to me; however, what it is conceived of is. The Departure Mag' contains photography, beauty, riches, exotic locations, decadent foods, writing pieces, and of course fashion. All of these things are part of who I am. I love photographing what probably seem like random things to the average individual. I love experimenting with the standard idea of beauty and coming up with my own. I love visiting different countries and learning different cultures. I love literature and journalism; writing has gotten me through some difficult times. Lastly, I, most definitely and without a doubt, love fashion and everything that comes with it.
Most of my other items in this picture revolve around the topics I previously said the Departure Magazine encompasses. The makeup bag (with a motivational quote on the front), is actually filled with makeup. This makeup allows me to be whoever I want to be whenever I want to be that person. It also allows me to experiment with my peers' opinions on appearances. The Covergirl Smoochies chapstick is one of my favorites; I actually have a collection of multiple chapsticks. The Olay Fresh Effects products keep my skin clear and allow makeup experimentation to be a fun, non-stressful pastime.
Lastly, my headphones. My teal, blue-green head phones that I got a $5 & Under store on a road-trip with my best friend. So far, they haven't failed me. They've always been there for me when I want to listen to music and don't feel the need to have anyone judging me based on what I listen to. It'd be hard to determine my personality based on my Spotify songs (I'm always on Spotify). I listen to almost all genres. From Kendrick Lamar, to Regina Spektor, to Panic at the Disco, to Black Veil Brides, to Jay Z, to Ingrid Michaelson, to Jason Mraz, to Fall Out Boy, to Ed Sheeran, to Taylor Swift, and so many more. Music undoubtedly a part of me that won't be going away. My tastes may change, but my love for a truly good song, no matter what genre, will always remain.
So, now you've learned a bit about me and have something to do when you're bored. Wow, I'm in a very giving/story-telling mood this evening. Hope you enjoyed this random spouting of personal weirdness. If you hated it or hate me, don't worry, I still love you.
Sincerely Yours,
Kay

Hey guys! So here is my first posted DIY project. What I did was I took a long-sleeved shirt I had, that I never wore, and decided to do something cool with it. First, I cut off the sleeves, so they were about half as long as their previous length. Then, I cut the bottom hem off of the shirt so it would seem like a more extended crop top. Lastly, though I currently don't like how they look together, I choose to add some lace to the bottom. All I took was fabric, scissors, and some super glue (E6000) and I got something totally unique. I figure I'll be wearing it a whole lot more if I can figure out how to make the lace look vintage instead of ancient. That's it! Hope this inspires you!
Sincerely Yours,
Kay

Hi! So, I had a slightly chill summer and was trying to decide something to do. After watching a lot of Youtube videos (great way to waste time if you ask me), I thought to myself, self you should totally do some crafty things because you're cheap, but have a great sense of design, so, yep do it. That was literally my thought process...no judging please. And then I thought, why not blog all the crafty things I do? Well, that's what is happening right here folks! Here you can see all my ideas, creations, crafts, fails, and success all with what to and not to do (on occasion). Hope you don't mind me adding this stuff in, as well as some of the cool photographs I take. I'm actually in a photography course so, with all that said, Vamos, chicos, Vamos!
Sincerely Yours,
Kay

Simple, Sweet, and slightly Scandalous

It was my mom's birthday earlier this week. We went out today for dinner and despite the fact that most of my family thought my outfit was horrendous, I've decided to blog it anyways (personally I don't think it was that bad). I feel this outfit works for going out during the day or for school. The cardigan is super comfy and the tank mostly covers the shoulders, so it's not too scandalous. I think the only problem would be that the skirt was WWWAAAAAAAYYYYY too short. Oops. Oh well, c'est la vie.
P.S-You could also do a patterned skirt and solid top, instead.
Skirt- Forever 21
Shirt- Old Navy
Cardigan- TJMaxx

TRYbal pants!!!!

So, today I went out shopping with some friends and I knew it was going to be rather hot. However, I wasn't quite in the mood to wear shorts. What to do, what to do (more like what to wear)  Well, I decided on this fun pair of loose-fitting, bohemian-styled, tribal-printed pants! They are so comfortable and easy to wear. Also, they work great for multiple occasions. Like if your trying to look nice, simply add accesories and a nice pair of heels. Or if your just going to hang out (like I did) pair them with a plain tank top and some flip flops (like I did). I believe I got mine for about $15 at TJMaxx. So, they were a great find, and I can't wait to wear them more often! Now, you go forth and be stylish!!!

Simply Straight

Howdy y'all. Haven't been active lately, so, sorry about that! It's not that I haven't worn cute things (of course I have). It's just that photo opportunities are not always present. Anyways, today I wore a simple, straight-line maxi dress that I found in clearance at Old Navy (#score!) I paired with some silver heart earrings a white Franco Sarto wedges. Uncomfortable? Maybe a little.
Cute? Completely!
So, I loved how easy going this dress was. I mean you could pair it with sandals for a laid back feel. Or you could do what I did and pair it with heels and jewelry for a more formal feel. Either way it's your life, so live it beautifully!

Black & White

Hey y'all! Do you ever just want to wear something simple and classy? Well, one way to go would definitely be black and white for easy-going, nice look.
The great thing about black and white is that you can pair almost any other color with them! Cept' for brown...Brown would be hard. But, really though! A bright pink necklace or yellow ballet flat would add a fun pop to the outfit.
Fashion Do's
  1. Pair with brightly colored accessories
  2. Pair with colored shoes

Fashion Don'ts
  1. Pair with multiple bright colors.....one is enough...

Try it as you see fit!

Max it Out!

Summer is almost upon us! One thing that I believe is a necessity for all women this summer is a classy, simple maxi dress (or skirt). For girls with a narrower frame, the waist can be up above your bell button and the dress can flow out from there. For girls with a curvier frame, the dress can be tighter till about the thigh, to show off them gorgeous curves! Not that petite girls aren't gorgeous. Everyone is gorgeous. 'Nuff said.
Fashion Dos
-Do accessorize with a statement necklace
Fashion Don'ts
-Don't try to include too many colors into one color scheme (don't do pastels and neon...ever...I mean there are always exceptions.....but I wouldn't risk it......but, hey, you do you)

Make it Bright!

If you're an athlete or just love the comfort of athletic clothes, it's hard to go wrong with a nice statement shoe. For hardcore Nike fans or dedicated Adidas lovers alike, there nothing wrong with show-casing your personality through a brightly colored sneaker.
Fashion Dos
-Do wear a top or hair piece that matches the shoes and ties the outfit together
-Do wear only prints that go along with the colors of the shoes
Fashion Don'ts
-Don't wear a solid neon colored pant with neon colored shoes
-Don't wear leggings that are too long, with out socks
Try This! If you're having trouble finding one that's perfect for you, try making a custom one online!

Pop it! Lock it! Polka Dot it!

Well plaid, my friend...well plaid

When needing a casual quick outfit, plaid shirts can be a great go-to. Either as a loose-fitting shirt or as an easy, throw-on jacket, it gives off the vibe of trying to look put together, but not trying that hard.
Fashion Dos:

  • Do pair it with a pant and undershirt that correlate with the colors in the plaid shirt
  • Do add accessories, minimally.

Fashion Don'ts:

  • Don't wear a another printed clothing piece (trust me, one is enough)
  • Don't wear over-dramatic jewelry
Try it for yourself!
Try This! *To accentuate your figure. add a belt the matches a color that is in the plaid fabric or that is a neutral shade. The placement of the belt depends on your figure!*

Time for Fashion'ing' Those Seatbelts

Hey! Would you look at that, it's another cliché fashion blog! Kidding...sort of. I'll try to keep this short. I'm an average girl who knows how to work with what clothes she's got and doesn't need to spend money on "trends" to look good. If you'd like, you can do the same thing! Trust me it's really easy. In this blog, I'll show you ways to mix and match patterns, prints, lengths, fabrics, you name it! And I'll always try to supply you with a place to find the different pieces I show. Well, there you have it. "Fashion" your seat-belts, kiddos, cause we're getting going...going...gone!

P.S

Here's a cliché camera picture for y'all
